Each year a trip is organised for the Lower Sixth at the end of the summer term to celebrate the end of exams. Trips have included activity weeks in North Wales and Devon where students went abseiling, sea canoeing, bridge jumping and tried their hand at archery and raft building.
It is important that our GCSE students enjoy a range extra curricular activities as well focusing on their academic work. So every year the Head of GCSE organises various excursions including trips to the Natural History Museum's ice rink, paintballing, cinema trips and meals out.
Ski Trip
In the February half-term we offer approximately 20 students, of varying ability, the opportunity to go skiing for 7 days. Since the trip started 3 years ago, we have ventured to Andorra, Austria and Italy, and hence has become a highlight for many of the Duff Miller students. We stay in chalets for the duration of the holiday. The Ski trip offers skiing, snowboarding, sledging and après ski to name but a few activities, thus always creating a fantastic atmosphere.
Theatre
Duff Miller Students are very fortunate to be surrounded by so many theatres in London. Theatre trips occur sporadically throughout the year and are open to all Duff Miller students. Students also have the opportunity to produce and perform their own plays, with guidance from Sonya Galouzis, our Head of Theatre Studies. We hope to be putting on our own productions during the course of the year.
Brewery Trip
Every year the Biology Department has a trip to Wandsworth Brewery to investigate the fermentation process, which is part of their Unit 4 A-level course. The outing lasts all afternoon and the students get the opportunity to observe each stage of the brewery system as well as sampling the final product at the end of the day. This trip is compulsory for all upper-sixth A-level biologists.
Zoo Trip
Animal Cognition is a vital part of the A-level Psychology and for that reason every year we visit the Animal Behaviour Centre at Regents Park Zoo. The students learn about migration, navigation, animal communication, and the opportunity to observe primates in the zoo environment.
The trip is compulsory for all upper-sixth Psychology students.
