After being unsuccessful in getting the grades needed to fulfil my Medicine offer, I was given an opportunity to meet Chris Kraft along with some of the department teachers. This initial meeting helped me to regain the confidence in my own abilities and endeavour to reapply for Medicine. The college really helpful with my application, and I was able to get advice from previous students, practicing Doctors and admissions officers who were regular speakers at the college. Teachers also gave me mock interviews to prepare me for the real thing and I was delighted to regain my offer from UCL.
I was encouraged to take a short resit programme in which all units are reviewed over the first term, and this helped me collate all the information I had learnt over the past two years and pinpoint the areas that I needed extra help with. I was able to develop my revision skills and regular exam practice helped me to learn exactly what examiners expected of high-class students.
The teaching at Duff Miller was excellent - being able to learn from people who are genuinely interested in their subject and their pupils, was encouraging and I found myself understanding things that I had previously overlooked. I was delighted to achieve three A's at A-level and am now looking forward to starting Medicine at my first choice of university this September.
Woohoo!!

This is to say a huge thank you to Clive Denning, for being such a great teacher over the past few months. Needless to say I was ecstatic over my results and I have got a place at the Royal Veterinary College. It would not have been possible if it wasn't for your unprecedented ability to make me understand physics, so I really can't thank you enough.

We would like to express our thanks to your staff at Duff Miller for the help that Mattea received this academic year. Without your help and encouragement, and the excellent teaching provided by Phil and Gordon, Mattea would not be starting her veterinary training at the Royal Veterinary College later this month.

Before I came to Duff Miller I had 2C’s and 2D’s at AS-level and knew drastic action was required in order to have a realistic chance of studying medicine at University. Having opted to follow the traditional two-year A-level course, I was delighted to obtain 3A’s at A-level in Chemistry, Biology and Physics; with an A at AS level Maths. This was only made possible by the excellent standard of teaching and on going support and encouragement from the dedicated staff. Regular exam practice obtained by the weekly E.P.P’s helped build up self-confidence as well as providing realistic feedback.
Looking back now I believe I made the right choice and attending Duff Miller has proved to be a sound investment.

'When I came to Duff Miller I had five average GCSEs and little confidence in my academic capabilities. I cannot fault Duff Miller in terms of outstanding quality of teaching that I received, not to mention the level of support and care that can be gained from practically any member of staff.
After my two years with the college I left overjoyed at achieving three As at A-level, and having been accepted to study psychology at my first choice university, Nottingham. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Duff Miller and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who is looking for a little extra support and encouragement during these crucial and difficult few years of their education.'

Last year I gained three middle B grades at A-level which wasn't enough to guarantee me a place at my desired university. One year on, I have three A's in Maths, Economics and History, and now have the opportunity to study Accountancy and Finance at Bristol University. I'd like to thank my subject teachers that got me through the year; the late Steve Salkeld, Derek Wall and Clive Castaldo, all of whom guided me and gave me the belief that I would achieve my goals.
